Gutter Cleaning in Northwest Arkansas
Gutters have one job: move roof water away from your house. When they're packed with leaves, shingle grit, and maple seeds, that water goes over the edge instead — straight down your siding and into the soil against your foundation. Southern Exterior cleans gutters and downspouts across Northwest Arkansas — every job quoted flat and free up front — and we haul the debris away when we're done.
NWA's mix of mature oaks and maples means gutters here fill fast. Fall dumps leaves, spring dumps seed pods and pollen clumps, and summer storms knock down everything else. Homes in wooded neighborhoods — much of Bella Vista, older Fayetteville, anything backing a tree line — can fill their gutters twice a year without trying.
We serve Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Fayetteville, Springdale, Cave Springs, and all surrounding towns. Locally owned, fully insured, and rated 5.0 stars on Google.

Our Gutter Cleaning Process
We clean gutters by hand and tool from ladders — scooping out leaves, needles, grit, and the composted sludge that builds up in the bottom of neglected runs. Everything gets bagged, not blown into your yard.
Then we flush every gutter run with water and confirm flow at each downspout. Downspouts are where most real clogs live; a gutter can look clear from the ground while a downspout is packed solid at the elbow. If one's blocked, we clear it. We finish with a walkaround, note anything we spotted — loose hangers, sagging runs, failing seams — and send photos of the finished work so you can see the results without climbing a ladder.
Want the outside cleaned too? We can brighten the exterior gutter faces, removing those black 'tiger stripes' of oxidation and grime, as an add-on to a gutter or house wash visit.
What Clogged Gutters Actually Cost You
Overflowing gutters dump water at the base of your walls, and repeated soaking of the soil there is a leading cause of foundation settling and crawlspace moisture. Foundation repair starts in the thousands; a routine gutter cleaning costs a tiny fraction of that. That math is the whole argument.
There's more. Standing water in clogged gutters adds real weight — wet debris can pull gutters off their hangers and rot the fascia boards they're mounted to. In winter, clogged gutters freeze and contribute to ice damming at the roof edge. And a gutter full of composted leaves is a planter box: we regularly pull actual seedlings out of neglected gutters, plus they're prime mosquito habitat in an Arkansas summer.
How Often NWA Gutters Need Cleaning
Twice a year is the standard for homes near trees: once in late fall after the oaks finally drop, and once in late spring after seed pods and pollen season. Homes on open lots with no overhanging trees can often go annually.
The late-fall timing matters in NWA because our oaks hold leaves longer than most trees — cleaning in October often means doing it again in December. We'll help you time it right for your lot. If you're not sure whether your gutters need it, look for water sheeting over the edge during rain, plants sprouting from the gutter line, or staining on the fascia below.
Ladder Safety Is Half the Service
Ladder falls are one of the most common serious home-maintenance injuries, and two-story gutter runs over landscaping, decks, and sloped ground are exactly where they happen. We have the equipment, the standoffs, and the insurance to do this work safely. For most homeowners, hiring it out is worth it purely to stay off the ladder — and the quote is flat and free before we ever show up.
Because we're already up there, gutter cleaning pairs naturally with a roof soft wash or house wash — many customers bundle them into a single visit and knock out the whole exterior at once.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
It depends on the size of the home and the state of the gutters — larger homes, two-story runs, and heavily clogged gutters take more time. Send us your address and a rough idea of the last cleaning and we'll quote it flat and free.
Do you clean the downspouts too?
Always. We flush every run and verify water flows freely out of each downspout before we call it done. A clean gutter with a clogged downspout still overflows, so downspouts aren't optional in our book.
What do you do with the debris?
We bag it and haul it away. We don't blow gutter debris into your flower beds or leave piles on the lawn — the yard should look better when we leave, not worse.
How often should gutters be cleaned in Northwest Arkansas?
Twice a year if you have trees near the house — late fall and late spring. Open lots can usually go once a year. Skipping cleanings is how downspouts end up packed solid, which makes the next visit harder and the overflow damage more likely.
Can you clean gutters with gutter guards?
Usually, yes. Guards slow debris down but don't stop it — fine grit and seeds still get through, and debris mats on top of the guards themselves. We can remove, clean under, and re-seat most guard systems; we'll confirm when we see what type you have.
